Life after Launch Case Study: Sūmèr’s team worked closely with Daniel Island Mortgage to promote its new ecofriendly mortgage products and its association with myEnergyLoan. Daniel Island Mortgage specializes in a full range of residential and commercial mortgage products. They serve the Charleston metro area and all of South Carolina. Company owner, Gary Harwyn, is leading the way for Charleston and all of South Carolina to shift from a carbon-based economy to a sustainable economy.

Challenge: When Daniel Island Mortgage hired Sūmèr to create and run their green lending PR campaign, the myEnergyLoan product had not officially launched to the public, yet it had received tremendous support from notable green builders and developers in the Charleston metro area.  However, Sūmèr had to create a campaign message that overcame the increasing negative opinion of the banking and mortgage industry. We also had overcome objections to the green movement.

Solution: Sūmèr’s team worked closely with Daniel Island Mortgage to promote its new ecofriendly mortgage products and its association with myEnergyLoan. With the housing market crumbling and people looking for ways to save on energy and home costs, Sūmèr create a PR campaign around the benefits of green lending and the myEnergyLoan product. We approached print and online media outlets in South Carolina, but also pitched to targeted journalists in the nation’s more prominent newspapers. We also helped Daniel Island Mortgage grow their Facebook company page and established online relationships with sustainable building organizations, South Carolina-based builders, and real estate agents.

Results: Daniel Island Mortgage has received a lot of press on becoming the nation’s first myEnergyLoan local provider and celebrated as the leader in sustainable / green financing.

Daniel Island Mortgage president Gary Harwyn has recently been on Charleston’s News 2 and has articles in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The Greenville News, the Moultrie News, and Island Eye News among others. As a result of Sumer’s PR efforts, Harwyn was asked to speak at Charleston Green Drinks monthly networking meeting and appear as a panel member at the College of Charleston Carter Real Estate Center to discuss sustainable real estate and green building and financing.

Optimized Press Release: Sūmèr wrote an optimized press release for Daniel Island Mortgage announcing the company as the nation's first myEnergyLoan Local Provider.
