Below, you’ll find remedies to two other common blogging challenges among small business owners:

Problem—keeping content fresh: Do you always feel at a loss for blog topics and it pains you to think up new and exciting ways to engage your audience? This happens a lot with small business owners and, often times, they just let their blog die out because it’s too much of a burden to come up with fresh topics.

Remedy: For those of you who hate blogging because you can never come up with fresh content, I assure you, your problem is solved!

Below is a list of tips to ensure you have fresh blog content always and forever:

  • Write a post around an industry statistic or news article related to your industry.
  • Interview guest bloggers.
  • Use multimedia. Using multimedia in your posts adds an engaging and dynamic element, which in turn, attracts more readers, creates more interest in what you have to say, and adds to post diversity. Using photos, video, and audio is often the most overlooked part of blogging, but it’s a great way to switch up your blog posts and engage readers through visuals and audio. An added benefit to strategically using video, audio, and images in your posts is that they provide you a break from writing content. If you are not crazy about writing blogs or are too busy, posting video, telling a story through photos, or posting a podcast will ensure you have quality content posted on a consistent basis.
  • Create a blog editorial calendar each month to visualize your topics. This will keep you in line and prevent you from repeating topics or publishing too many posts around one particular category.

Problem—keeping up with reading and commenting on other blogs in my niche: We’re so busy running our own business that to sit down and sift through a list of bloggers is not only a waste of time, but it’s also torturous. Am I right?

Remedy: I never sift through my list of favorite bloggers. Do you want to know why? Because I’m subscribed to all of my favorite blogs and receive posts directly to my email inbox as soon as they publish. I can catch up on reading blogs and commenting in less than 10 minutes each day because everything I need is in my inbox.

If you would prefer, you can subscribe to a blog’s RSS feed, instead. This way you receive blog posts from your favorite blogs right to your RSS reader. This is a great option for individuals who want to keep emails at a minimum in their inbox.
