Did you know that there is a steady rise in consumers ages 35 and below who prefer to use mobile apps as opposed to a web browser while searching content on their smart phones? In an article by ReadWriteWeb.com, market research and consulting firm, Parks Associates, conducted a study that found “that this young demographic (35-years old and below) is starting to ditch the Web browser in favor of apps, and are especially put off by mobile websites not designed for the small screen.”
Other studies highlighted throughout this article mentioned that companies such as Adobe and Taptu performed similar studies, which resulted in findings that differed from those of Parks Associates. Although results appeared differently in these reports, there is one common idea agreed upon in these studies: there are mobile consumers out there who are looking to their smart phones to search the Internet. Why not conform to this evolving way of search by making changes to your website and blog to ensure mobile compatibility?
From M-commerce (mobile commerce) integration to mobile apps, and mobile marketing to mobile-friendly WordPress Plugins, smart businesses are using mobile compatible features to get in front of their audience on smart phones and cater to the various methods of mobile search.
Below are 3 reasons why you should integrate mobile compatibility features into your website design and blog:
- You’ll win the hearts of your consumers: It drives me crazy when I search a website and can’t find what I need quickly enough. I don’t appreciate when a business website takes me through various routes, click-throughs, and hoops. I feel as though they do not appreciate my time or my business. You want your customers to feel catered to and appreciated. A website that is mobile-friendly will do just that by illustrating you are willing to service their needs and search preferences in any way possible.
- You’ll increase exposure and reach new markets: Think about members of your target audience who are only using their phone to search the Internet. Without mobile-friendly features on your website or without a smart phone app, you are missing out on reaching these individuals and converting them into paying customers.
- You’ll give consumers what they want quickly and easily: Your consumers want to be able to quickly access your website on their mobile device and find what they’re looking for immediately. With such a small interface, a mobile phone makes it difficult to search through a website that lacks mobile compatibility features. When your audience can’t find what they’re looking for, they’ll get frustrated and leave. It’s as simple as that.
